Matt Cordier

Matt is a professional drummer and music teacher with over 10 years of experience helping students grow their skills and confidence behind the kit. He’s passionate about making music fun, accessible, and rewarding for students of all ages.

Originally from Chicago, Matt studied music and dance at Northern Illinois University. He spent 15 years playing and teaching in Chicago’s vibrant music and arts scene, where he worked with top dance schools and bands of all styles—from reggae and rock to jazz and electronic music.

As a teacher, Matt has taught both group and private lessons, led school percussion sections, and even worked with Yamaha’s national Sounds of Summer program. He believes in building strong foundations, encouraging creativity, and helping each student find their unique groove.
